All About Julie
About the author of this site... Hi - I'm Julie Onofrio. I am a massage therapist in Seattle WA, who turned into a website addict! I love making websites for whatever reason. They allow me to be creative and helpful too.My first website was www.thebodyworker.com which is just a summary of things I learned in massage school. I started it in 1999 using FrontPage (by Microsoft) and it still is online today. It initially started out as a project to create a massage apprenticeship program. I was collecting all of the info to help a friend get out of going to a full massage school program. She had plenty of science background and just wanted the massage part. I looked into creating an official apprenticeship program but never got around to it. Instead I put all of the information into a website. Back then I didn't have a clue what I was doing. I remember uploading my first pages. I thought I would break the internet! That's how little I knew at the time! I didn't of course break anything and lived to tell about it. In about 2000 or so I read an ebook by Ken Evoy called "Make Your Site Sell" and I somehow got the idea that I could make money from websites. I started a site using his company- Site Build it! My first SBI! site was www.massagetherapycareers.com I started it in 2002 and sold it in Sept 2009. The reason that I sold it was to just get ahead a little financially and mainly because I knew I could just go and do it all over again using the same system. I created www.massage-career-guides.com and continue to sell a few ebooks and help people in deciding if they want to go to massage school. Somewhere along the lines I became a fan of using WordPress blogs. Since I always have so much to say! Blogging started out as a hobby but I have since learned to use Wordpress as a content management system and use it for my sites www.massagepracticebuilder.com and www.massageceguide.com . www.massagepracticebuilder.com is a site that just talks about building a massage business. I use it as a content management system. The other site - www.massageceguide.com I have set up with membership software and allow teachers to add their Continuing ed classes. One of the things that SBI! taught me about was SEO and getting sites found. I can set up a Wordpress Blog to get found easily by the search engines. It took me probably a few years to get it all together and now I am sharing it all with you! Wordpress can be set up to resemble how SBI! works and it does a few things SBI! can't but I still do better at least with Adsense on SBI! sites and I just can't figure out why so I just gave up and use it when I can and add Wordpress blogs when I can! To me they are just the right combination! I finally decided I just want to start writing down everything I have learned about creating websites and share my passion for it. It allows me to work part time doing massage and it helps me to reach more people in educating them about careers in massage and becoming a massage therapist. Now I am branching out into helping people make websites and hopefully at least supplement your income. In today's economy that is becoming more important no matter what you do or what field you are in. So let me know if you have any questions, comments or feedback!(Oh and just go to this link if you want to learn more about Site Build it! It's a short video that will explain it better than I can!) Just have fun!
