Increase Website Traffic

You can increase website traffic by implementing a solid program of building pages that are optimized (writing plenty of content)and getting other sites to link to your website.

First though you will need to let the search engines know that your site exists. You can do that by creating an xml sitemap for your website. If you are using Wordpress you can find an xml sitemap plugin that will automatically create one for you. You can also find free software online that will create the file for you and then you can upload it to your website. The thing is that it will need to be updated every time you add a page or if you change a page so having it done automatically for you is probably a better way to go. Site Build it! - the company I am using for this website does that for you. What a Wordpress blog and Site Build it! do is to also "Ping" the search engines when you create new pages. This is just a way to let them know that there is new material on your website so they can send out 'spiders' to scan your site.

After you get your xml sitemap done you will need to submit it to the top search engines. This alone is just one part of getting traffic to your website.

Another thing is continuing to add content that is using the right keywords that people are looking for. The internet is all about info, content and keywords.

Creating backlinks or getting other sites to link to you is also a really big part to increase website traffic. You can do this in many ways and should actually create a link plan for your website. Here are some of the ways you can get links:

• Ask other sites to exchange links with you.

• Post on blogs that offer comments. Be sure to see if they use the "no follow" code or not. No follow means that they won't be good links for the search engines.

• Submit your website to free directories.

• Use article marketing and Submit articles to article directories

• Become an author on sites like Ehow.com

• Use squidoo.com, hubpages.com and other sites like these that allow people to create pages on specific topics.

There isn't any easy way to increase website traffic. It has to also be done slowly over time to not make the search engines think that you are spamming the internet. How do they know??? Mother Google knows all!
