Make Free Websites First!

Make Free Websites first if you are wanting to make a website. You can find a place that will allow you to build your site for free to begin with and practice making sites. When I started in 1999 I played around with www.homestead.com which was totally free back then. I also used a free html editor (software that makes websites) called Composer that was put out by Netscape. There is a lot to making sites but it really can be fun!

Today there are still many fun places to create a free website:

www.Weebly.com is a really easy to use website system. It allows you to create as many pages as you want for free and they don't put ads on your site. It is a good place for a family website or to just play and get started with building sites.

Wordpress.com - will let you create a free Wordpress blog which is my favorite blogging software. The reason I like it is because it has so many features that are built in or can be easily added that will help you get your website found. Even though it is a blog it can be used as a website too. Homestead.com still offers a free trial and then a low cost website. You can try it for 30 days for free and see if you like it.

Yahoo! offers low cost webhosting. I haven't tried them in awhile but know someone who uses it.

The best thing though is to stick with the free hosting options until you get the hang of it all and also figure out what you want to do with your website.

If you want a website for your small business or to make money online you will want to pay for hosting and learn everything you can about it so that you can get your website found by the search engines. That is really everything-getting your site found. If no one sees it - it isn't much good to anyone.
