Website Search Engine Optimization is the whole process of getting search engines to find your website especially of course Google. It includes every part of making your website from researching the best keywords to use and then using them strategically in the domain and in the pages and content of your website. It is also about using tools like xml sitemaps to submit to search engines. these are files that basically tell the search engines you are there whenever you add a page or update content.

Search engines love to find the best content for the people who are searching- that is after all their job! Creating websites and pages based on what people are searching for is part of website search engine optimization.

Some of the elements of website search engine optimization are:

• The domain name - search engines look at the url for keywords that match what people are searching for. You can use dashes in the domains to help separate the keywords.

• Creating pages based on keyword research - each page you create needs to be optimized for the search engines. You can use metatags (code in each page that tells the SE what is on the page) to get you started. The basic formula is to create a file name for the page that includes the keyword and then use the main keyword in the Title of the page as well as the metatag keyword and description area.

• Also use the keywords in the headline of the page and a few times throughout the body of the page.

• Put a link on the page using the keyword of that page. You can link to another area on the same page, to another page on your site or to another site.

• Use a navigation system that also uses the keywords of your pages in links to that page

• Use photos that use the main keywords of the page and have them named using that keyword

• Create Youtube videos using your keywords

• Create a Facebook Fan page using your keywords

• Create a Twitter Account using those keywords

• Getting other sites to link to your page is really half of the process of website search engine optimization. You can do that in many ways - posting on other blogs, creating other sites of your own and linking them together, submitting articles to article directories, doing link exchanges, submitting your website to directories.

So the process of getting your website found requires that you understand and use basic website search engine optimization.
